The 7th Peak Festival kicked off at Perisher Resort in Australia’s Snowy Mountains this long weekend for the opening of the Australian snow season!!
With around 40 acts, it’s an eclectic mix of music genres and talented musicians ranging from folk , roots, soul and hip hop to poetry and story tellers, all set in the picturesque snow covered Perisher Valley. Each year I’m blown away by the quality of the acts at PEAK. There are so many amazing talented artists, and many that I am hearing for the first time. It’s one of my favourite weekends. A music festival in the snow, it doesn’t get much better!!
I loved Conchillia’s tunes of indi-pop harmonies with world influences
It wouldn’t be opening night without the amazing Hussy Hicks at Smiggs….
Waking up to clear skies and not so clear heads on Saturday morning. The snow guns were working hard throughout the night pumping out fresh man made snow
It was great to see Perisher looking this good for the opening weekend of the Aussie snow season
It brought the crowds who were all very keen to get back on snow for the first days of the season. Great snow coverage with the resort open to mid station, there were lots of happy faces.
Enjoying the snow, the sunshine and a few apres
Before kicking off Saturday nights festivities with night skiing and a bang on Front Valley
The Smiggs Hotel was the place to be, starting with Harry James Angus
My favourite act from the weekend, Felicity Lawless
The unique fusion of middle eastern, electro beats and flamenco suunds of Tijuana Cartel had Smiggs jumping
With a music festival in the snow, it’s not easy to get gear around, especially with lots of snow on the ground this year. But Ungus Ungus Ungus still managed to strike a pose whilst carting their gear into the Sundeck
There were plenty of revelers skiing from venue to venue checking out all the great bands on offer and lots of ski boot dancing
Into night fall and again Smiggs was PEAKing, with the sultry sounds of The Doug Williams Mix
The extremely energetically talented Lachy Doley, playing the keyboards as only Lachy can
Thought provoking hip hop lyrics of L-Fresh the Lion
And my ears are still ringing from Mahalia Barnes’ powerful voice belting out some great tunes
With so many acts, it’s hard to see them all, even over the space of four days. I can’t wait to do it all again next year, see you then at the coolest music festival in Australia.
